Our CEO, Barry and MD, Enzo were pleased to attend the opening of the new coffee machine at The Sproughton Community Shop, sponsored by LDH.

Opened 12 years ago, the Community Shop is at the centre of village life. Run entirely by volunteers under the supervision of a paid, part-time manager, the little shop, known by some customers as “the Tardis”, provides basic necessities, fresh produce and local deli items to the local community. During recent lockdowns, the shop was a lifeline for local residents, particularly the vulnerable and elderly.

Aside from its aim to provide goods and provisions, the shop was set up as a non-profit enterprise for the benefit of the community, with any surplus helping to support village organisations and events from Meet Up Monday coffee mornings for elderly residents to their annual Beer Festival. Recently they have supported the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme by welcoming young people to work in the shop as part of the volunteering section of the scheme, and they would love to do even more!

Following frequent requests from customers, walkers and passing trade for good take-away coffee. The Sproughton Community Shop felt that the perfect way to keep up with current trends and increase their sales would be the introduction of a “proper” coffee machine, which would encourage more people into the shop and increase their profitability, which LDH was delighted to support.
