Logistics

LDH delivers complete supply chain solutions from factories worldwide to our final customers. Working with key strategic partners LDH plans and executes resilient and agile supply chains appropriate to every product.

At the core of every decision is our passion to achieve the highest customer service, developing innovative solutions by effectively utilising available resources. Our objective is to collaborate effectively within the supply of product by developing long term sustainable relationships that ensure overall availability and ongoing supply, which is a cornerstone of our company ethos.

Shipping & Import Experts

Our team of experienced Supply Chain Managers utilise powerful SAP and data analytics tools to accurately review, plan and manage the end-to-end flow of product according to our customers’ needs. Long standing strategic alliances in the shipping and logistics industry allow LDH to remain flexible and competitive while minimizing risk to supply.

LDH has in depth knowledge and expertise of both UK and European Import / Export procedures ensuring compliance and delivering to UK mainland, Northern Ireland and Europe on time in full. Post Brexit and its consequence that the UK is no longer within the European Single Market, LDH can leverage significant experience to accurately submit import declarations and required certifications to ensure a fast and efficient clearing of goods for both the UK and, as LDH (Ireland) ltd, the Republic of Ireland.

From our new strategic location near Ipswich, LDH is ideally placed to receive containers through two of the UK’s main ports, the Port of Felixstowe and London Gateway. LDH have maintained the flexibility of a ‘port-centric’ operating model which allows LDH and our partners to efficiently expedite all containers ex quay to our warehouse, this includes arrivals deemed as specific customer priority. We maintain a steady daily throughput of goods and have significant resilience to port closures and traffic disruption.

Warehousing & Inventory

In 2016 following a complete review of our UK Supply Chain operating model we determined that to future proof our Supply model we needed to change our warehousing from the traditional concept to an automated warehousing solution. The location ultimately chosen maintained our long-standing port centric operation by being within a strategic proximity to the main UK port infrastructure.

The Automated Storage and Pallet Retrieval System chosen as our future operating solution became fully operational just prior to Christmas 2020. Our automated warehouse has the capability to store 45,000 pallets and each pallet stored is held within a defined storage location within the warehouse.

We are continuously reviewing the effectiveness of the site, and as part of our strategy to work under a regime of Continuous Improvement we are constantly reviewing the automations operation.

Distribution

Utilising smart automation and bespoke SAP tools customer orders are processed quickly and efficiently, giving our chosen 3pl partners critical planning data with minimum delay. Warehouse pick tasks are automatically built according to transport planning requirements and are dynamically updated as the order portfolio develops.

Our 3pl Logistics Providers fleet, comprises dedicated on site vehicles, which also supported by additional networking options which combined use “stand” on site trailers to permit efficient continuous loading. Whilst the overwhelming majority of our distribution is based upon full vehicle loads, we do as necessary engage with pallet network providers to ensure a resilient and cost-effective delivery solution for any delivery size. Any issues encountered in transit are fully managed via a dedicated Incident Reporting system operated 24hrs a day, allowing for the latest status updates and revised eta’s to be sent to delivery locations.

Strict process alignment and automated data transfer between systems allow LDH to maximise capability to supply the highest possible service levels. The whole end-to-end process is monitored by the Customer Supply Chain Team to ensure any issues are escalated and resolved.
