The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation was set up in 2019 to fund vital medical research and to raise awareness, with an ambitious and world-changing goal to make food allergy history.
To date, The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation has already achieved crucial successes including:
- Successfully campaigned for change in food labelling law so that all ingredients must be listed on pre-packed foods for direct sale. This is known as ‘Natasha’s Law’, and came into force on 1st October 2021.
- Launched a ground-breaking £2.8m clinical trial in oral immunotherapy in May 2022, using shop-bought everyday foods to treat food allergies. If successful, this treatment could be adopted by the NHS at a fraction of the current cost of pharmaceuticals. The trial aims to make it possible for allergy sufferers to lead lives where they no longer must avoid ‘may contain’ food products – finally able to safely eat at school, in restaurants, at friends’ houses etc. – crucially, without fear of a severe reaction/loss of life.
- Campaigning nationwide for the Government to appoint an Allergy Tsar, to significantly improve the healthcare available for the UK public’s most common chronic illness. This includes ensuring mandatory training in allergies for all GP’s.
LDH is delighted to be a supporter of Natasha’s Allergy Research Foundation. We are committing to donating over the next 3 years in aid of the foundations mission in creating a safer world for all people living with allergies.
